NCERT NTSE 2023: Stage II National Talent Search Exam at National Level

State II NCERT NTSE 2023 notification released on its NTSE Official Web Page of NCERT Web Portal, https://ncert.nic.in/. NCERT 2023 is a State II National Talent Search Examination at National Level Notification.

NTSE Latest news, The National Council of educational research and training has issued a notice to conduct the NTSE stage II examination 2023. NTSE stage 2 examinations were scheduled to be held on the notified date. Candidates who applied for the NTSE stage 2 examinations can check the official deferment notice on the online website of NCERT that is ncert.nic.in*

It would be conducted every year across the country in the name of NCERT NTSE Scholarship Exam 2023, NTSE SAT, MAT Exam 2023 to be held under this NTSE Scholarships Exam. By this notification, Stage I State Level NTSE Exam date and Stage II National Level NTSE Exam date is announced for National Talent Search Examination 2023 notification has been given by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

The National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class X is meant to identify and nurture talent. The examination is conducted every year at two levels: Stage-I NTSE (State Level NTSE ) and Stage-II NTSE (National Level NTSE ).

  • NTSE Stage-II Exam Date: 07-02-2021 (NTSE 2019)
  • NTSE Stage-II Exam Date: 24-10-2021 (NTSE 2020)
  • NTSE Stage 2 Exam Date: 12-06-2022 (NTSE 2021)

NCERT has notified for the information of all concerned that National Talent Search Stage-II Examination scheduled for 13th June 2023 in all the States/UTs of the country. For more details, please contact Liaison Officer of your State. Also, visit NCERT website for updates.

National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a National Level Scholarship Program at the Secondary School level to identify and recognise students with high intellect and academic talent. NTSE is conducted every year at Two levels i.e., The Stage-I (State Level) NTSE Exam, conducted by the States/Union Territories and The Stage-II (National Level) NTSE Exam, conducted by NCERT.

The objective of the two-tier examination is to identify the talented students who have a special aptitude for Sciences, Mathematics, Social Sciences and questions based on Analytical Reasoning. The ‘NTSE 2023’ Stage-I will be held held on 23-1-2023, and NTSE 2023 Stage-II is scheduled for June 12, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria for Stage II NTSE Exam:

  • Students, securing 80% marks or above in the State level exam, are eligible for the Stage II to be held by NCERT at National level.
  • Around 4000 students are shortlisted for the National level NTSE across the country.
  • All students who secure the minimum required marks at Stage-II, are eligible for the scholarship program.

NCERT Stage II Exam Date: The National Talent Search Stage-II Examination scheduled on 13th June 2023 (Postponed) in all the States/UTs

NTSE Scholarships: About Two thousand (2000)  scholarships are awarded for different stages of education as follows:

a) Scholarship of Rs.1250/- per month for Class-XI to XII.
b) Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates.
c) Amount of Scholarship for PhD be fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.

Reservation: a) 15% for students belonging to the SC category,
b) 7.5% for students belonging to the ST category and
c) 3% for Physically Challenged Group of Students.

Eligibility: All students of Class X studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the Stage I examination, conducted by the States/UTs, in which the schools are located. There will be no domicile restriction.

Students registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) will also be eligible for the scholarship, provided the student is below the age of 18 years (as on 1st July of the particular year), the student is not employed and s/he is appearing in class X examination for the first time.

Selection Process:

  • Stage I State Level NTSE Exam: Stage-I selection will be done by States/UTs  and
  • Stage II National Level NTSE Exam: those who qualify Stage I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.

Scheme of Examination/Exam Patten: The pattern of written examination will be as follows: 1. The pattern of Stage I examination at the State/UT’ level will comprise of two parts, namely (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT) and (b) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

NTSE Exam Pattern

At Stage-II (National Level), there will be No negative marking in each paper. For each wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for un-attempted questions.

Qualifying Marks: Qualifying marks for candidates from General category is 40% in each paper and for candidates from SC, ST, PH is 35% in each paper. Language Test Qualifying in nature and marks obtained for Language Test will not be counted for final merit.

Application Form: Candidates may contact the State/UT Liaison officer for procuring application form.

How to Apply: The completed application form should be signed by the Principal of the school much before the last date of submission. The candidate, as well as the Principal of the school, must adhere to the last date for submission of the Application Form. Different states may have different last dates for submission.

Please confirm from the liaison officer of your state, the address at which the completed forms are to be submitted. The State-wise contact of the liaison officers are given below and are also available in the NCERT website www.ncert.nic.in. All queries related to application form should be directed to the State Liaison Officers (LOs). No application should be sent to NCERT.

Application Fees: States and Union Territories may notify the fee required which will be paid for the Stage-I examination. Therefore, before submitting the application form, you may find out the fees charged for Stage-I Examination and also the mode of payment from the respective State. Liaison Officers (LOs). However, NCERT does not charge any fee for Stage-II examination.

Indian Students Studying Abroad in Class X can appear directly for Stage II NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure which is available on the NCERT website.

Candidates may fill up the Application Form, available on the NCERT website and send to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of the previous examination, latest by February 28th. Application Form for students to study abroad will be uploaded on the NCERT website in the month of October. Announcement for Indian Students Studying Abroad will be announced separately.

Modifications in NTSE Stage II Examination to be conducted on 12-06-2023:  In continuation to the Council’s Notification regarding the conduct of National Talent Search Examination 2023 placed on the NCERT website www.ncert.nic.in.

All the candidates and the general public is hereby informed that as per the decision of review committee of NTS Examination held there will be modifications in the Stage-II examination to be conducted on with respect to a number of papers, number of questions, areas to be tested, time for testing and the practice of negative marking. Details are specified as given below;

1. There will be not any paper on Language Test.
2. Reporting Time for Candidates: 09-00 hrs at the Examination Center
3. Admit Cards will be auto-generated. Successful/Recommended candidates of Stage- I Examination will be informed separately about the process of downloading the admit cards. – NTSE Brochure
