Rajasthan NMMS Exam is a state level National Means Merit Scholarship examination for class 8th students who are studying in Rajasthan state. State Examination Board of Rajasthan is organizing the stage 1 state level NMMS exam. School Education Department will conduct the NMMS Rajasthan every year across the State.

Details of Rajasthan NMMS Exam

The NMMS Scheme is a central government programme which is aimed at providing financial support to the students of Class 8 in grant-in-aid schools or government schools coming from financially weak backgrounds so that they can complete their education till Class 12. The selected students are paid Rs 12,000 per annum. The exams will be conducted in December or January.

The Rajasthan Council of School Education announced that registrations for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship exams began on October 11. The last day to submit applications will be November 5. The fees for application for OBC and general category students is Rs 75 while SC, ST students will have to pay Rs 50 as exam fees.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicable only for the meritorious and needy students of India, this NMMS scholarship scheme expects all the applicants to fulfil the eligibility conditions mentioned below in order to be eligible for the selection test conducted to award the scholarship.

The candidates who wish to apply for this MCM scholarship must be regular students studying in class 8 after getting clear promotion from class 7 with a score of at least 55% or equivalent grades. The candidates must be pursuing education from Government/Local Body/Government-aided schools.

For continuation of scholarship in higher secondary school, the candidate must score at least 60% marks in class 10 board exam. For continuing the scholarship in class 12, the scholarship awardee must get clear promotion from class 11 in the first attempt itself with a score of 55% marks or equivalent. For students belonging to SC/ST category, a relaxation of 5% is given in marks.

The candidates’ annual family income should not be more than INR 3.5 Lakh. Also, those students who are enrolled in NVS, KVS, Sainik schools and private schools are not eligible for this NMMS scholarship.

NMMS Exam Pattern: Though NMMS is a Central Government scholarship scheme, its selection test is conducted by each State/UT for their respective students. These tests include a mental ability test and a scholastic aptitude test whose guidelines are set by the NCERT.

The applicants need to complete each test in a maximum time duration of 90 minutes. However, children of special abilities are given some extra time to complete the tests. Given below are the details about this State Level Examination Test.

How to Apply for Rajasthan NMMS Scholarship? If you wish to apply for NMMS, you must make sure that you fulfil all the Eligibility Criteria for this NMMS scholarship. Students can apply online form NMMS through National Scholarship Portal. Students are also informed about the availability of NMMS application forms by the authorities of their schools.

The last date to submit the filled online NMMS applications is decided by state nodal officer every year. Students can also download the filled form from the official website or collect the same from their schools. In the case of offline mode, students have to submit the filled NMMS Application form along with necessary documents to the school in which a student is studying.

Candidates whose forms are accepted will be able to collect the admit cards from their respective schools, a few days before the exam. Follow the below instructions to submit the NMMS Application form successfully. Candidates can obtain the NMMS Application form through online mode, and two attested hard copy of the application form with essential documents should be submitted to the respective school.

The head of school must forward the applications to nodal schools and retain one copy for school record. Candidates could download the NMMS application form of their respective state by clicking on the given link.

Steps to Apply for Rajasthan NMMS Exam?

Rajasthan Council of School Education has enabled the Rajasthan NMMS Exam Online application link on its official website, education.rajasthan.gov.in. Students who are eligible and who want to apply for NMMS Scholarship examination can check details and submit the complete the Rajasthan NMMS Registration process on its web portal. Interested 8th standard students can follow the below given steps to submit the online application.

  1. Visit the education.rajasthan.gov.in Website

    Students or Parents need to visit the official website of Rajasthan Education Department, education.rajasthan.gov.in in any web browser of your smart device.

  2. Click on the NMMS Link

    When you reach the official website of Education Department, click on the 'NMMS (National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme)' link on the home page which is displayed under latest notification section.

  3. Click on Apply Link

    Once you reach the NMMS web page of Rajasthan Shala Darpan, https://rajshaladarpan.nic.in, click on apply link on the home page. Enter your U DISE number and clock on submit button to apply. Students are advised that U-DISE Number should be obtained from the principal of the school in which the student is currently studying.

  4. Fill the application

    After clicking on the submit button, a pre-filled form will be shown, kindly confirm your personal details and School details. If in case of change in School, enter new School Dise code, click on “Change School” button, your school details will be updated for this examination. Enter mobile number of Parents and Principal/Teacher mobile no. Kindly click on Submit to submit your form.

  5. Upload Photograph

    After Submit kindly note your Application number which will be used for further process. After submitting form, upload photograph, signature and select your date of birth. Confirm your details and then click on confirm button to confirm your application, after confirming you will not be able to edit the application.

  6. Click on Submit Button

    After filling the all details, click on the submit application button. Then, your application would be submitted successfully.

  7. Pay the Exam Fee

    After submission of online application form, pay the Rajasthan NMMS examination fee through proper online payment method.

  8. Click on the Report

    After uploading the details of all students, click on the 'Report' at the top of the application form. Then click on the 'PDF' link for the display of Nominal Roll.

  9. Take a Print

    Take a printout of Nominal Roll and submit the in the O/o the District Educational Officer concerned. Two sets of Nominal Rolls attested by the Head of the Institution concerned. Application of each candidate attested by Head of the Institution concerned (Attested copy of Caste and Medical Certificate in case of SC/ST/PH should be enclosed) with Original Challan.

National Means Cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS)

The Centrally Sponsored Scheme “National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)” was launched in May, 2008. It is implemented by the Department of School Education & Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students of economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out at class VIII and encourage them to continue the study at secondary stage.

Scholarship of Rs. 12000/- per annum (Rs.1000/- per month) per student is awarded to selected students every year for study in classes from IX to XII in State Government, Government aided and local body schools. There is quota of scholarships for different states/UTs. Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs. 1,50,000/- are eligible to avail the scholarships.

There is reservation as per State Government norms. The selection of students award of the scholarships is made through an examination conducted by the State Governments. Scholarships are disbursed by the State Bank of India directly into the bank accounts of students on quarterly basis.

The students studying in “Kendriya Vidyalayas and “Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas” are not entitled to get scholarship under this scheme. Similarly, those students studying in Residential Schools run by the State Government Institutions, where facilities like boarding, lodging and education are provided and students studying in private schools are also not eligible for the scholarship under this scheme.

NMMS Scholarship aims to motivate bright and disadvantaged students to complete their secondary and higher secondary level of education so as to improve the dropout rate from schools after class 8. Every year, students of class 9 to 12 appear for two levels of selection tests at the state level to avail the benefits of National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship for class 9 to 12 regular students of government schools.

NMMS Award: NMMS disburses a total of 100,000 scholarships every year at the rate of INR 12000 per annum, i.e. INR 1000 per month, to the selected students. Under National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship, the scholarship amount is paid by State bank of India (SBI) on one go.

The amount is directly transferred into the students’ accounts through Public Financial Management System (PFMS). The number of scholarships allocated to each State and UT is done on the basis of students’ enrolment in class 7 & 8 and their population in the respective states.

The details of the NMMS amount: The students of class 9 receive a scholarship amount on one go, i.e. INR 12000 per annum, for an academic year after registration on NSP portal. The scholarship is renewed every year till the student completes his/her Higher Secondary level of education (Class 12), provided the candidate gets clear promotion into higher class every year.
