PG Scholarships: University Grants Commission invites online applications form the eligible candidates for the award of Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship as per details given below.

The scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social background of the candidates from the deprived section of the society and to provide them opportunity to undertake postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects like Engineering & Technology, Management, Pharmacy etc. in Indian Universities/Institutions/ Colleges.

UGC PG Scholarship 2021 for Professional Courses

The objective of the PGSP scheme is to provide financial assistance to 1000 SC/ST candidates to pursue postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects at recognized Indian Universities/ Institutions/ Colleges.

Eligibility for UGC PG Scholarship 2021:

The candidate must have obtained a Graduate Degree in the relevant subject and obtained admission at the Postgraduate level for a regular full-time course in any of the Professional subjects in a recognized University/ Institution/ College.

Candidates pursuing post graduate courses in professional subjects by correspondence or by Distance Education mode are not eligible to receive financial assistance under this scheme. The upper age limit for male applicants is 45 years as on 1st July on the year of application, and 50 years in the case of female candidates. In exceptional cases, the age may be relaxed.

Applying for the scheme:

The candidates belonging to SC/ST categories fulfilling the eligibility conditions are required to apply against the advertisement to be published by the UGC after obtaining admission in a recognized University/ Institution/ College. The selections would be completed by the end of August every year in prescribed format (Annexure-l).

Nature of Assistance available under the Scheme:

The number of slots available under the scheme are 1000 per year. The tenure of award is for two/three years depending upon tenure of the postgraduate course.

 Candidates selected for the award of PG scholarships shall be provided Scholarship @Rs.5000/-per month (M.Tech.) with the contingency of Rs.15000/- per annum and for other courses @ Rs.3000/- per month and contingency grant of Rs.10,000/- per annum for the duration of the PG Scholarship for other courses.

Release of Grant by the UGC:

On receipt of duly completed application form of the candidate together with required documents and based on the merit of the candidate the UGC office shall release the first installment of the admissible grant to the concerned institution( Annexure-II).

Thereafter, the grant shall be released on receipt of the Utilisation Certificate and statement of expenditure for the last grant paid (Annexures- Ill, IV). On completion of the scholarship, and audited utilization certificate is to be submitted by the University/Institution/College from which the candidate has completed the PG Programme.

Monitoring the Progress of the candidate:

The progress of the candidate shall be monitored by the head of the department. The candidate is required to submit a yearly progress report duly signed by the Head of the Department and Registrar of the University or Head of the Institution or Principal of the College. The scholarship shall stop after the last academic year of the programme (Annexure-V).

Cancellation of Award
The fellowship is liable to cancellation, in case of:
1. Misconduct
2. Unsatisfactory progress of research work
3. The candidate is later found ineligible

General Instructions for UGC Rajiv Gandhi PG Scholarships 2021:

1. Applications should be in the format as prescribed under the applicable scheme
2. Applications submitted other than Online Mode under the applicable scheme will be summarily rejected
3. Applications submitted without the documents/enclosures as prescribed under the applicable scheme will not be considered.
4. Prescribed Online application format and details of required documents are available on the UGC website at http://www.ugc.ac.in
5. Only the applications submitted through Online shall be entertained.
6. Applications submitted after the last date will not be considered.
