Prime Ministers Scholarship Scheme 2021 or PMSS 2021 for the academic year 2020-21 notification has bee released, Eligible students may apply online by 31-120-2020. The scheme is applicable only to students enrolled in professional courses in the academic year 2020-21.
Applications are invited from eligible ex-servicemen ward / widows and ex-Indian Coast Guard personnel as per the scheme documents available in RSBs / ZSBS for continuation of professional degree courses.
Students are requested to visit the PMSS web link to read the checklist, FAQ and other information at the Central Military Board website www.ksb.gov.in before applying online to avoid applications being rejected.
Students should apply online mode only. Paper application will not be allowed. The Last date for online application for PM’s Scholarship is 31 December 2020. Students must apply by 31 December 2020 to avoid last minute congestion.
This Scholarship is for widows / ex-servicemen (Army / Navy / Air Force / Coast Guard) widows only. Not applicable to ordinary citizens.

Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme was introduced from the Academic year 2006-07. To encourage higher technical and professional education for the dependent wards of Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard personnel and their widows (below officer rank only) and dependent wards / widows of Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard personnel who died / disabled in harness due to causes attributable to Military Service / Coast Guard Service, irrespective of the rank.
A total number of 4000 students will be selected Students for Prime Minister’s Scholarships are available.

Eligible for Scholarship:
(a) Students who have taken admission in 2020 are only eligible to apply for PMSS 2020-2021. Students should have scored 60% and above in Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) i.e 10+2 / Diploma / Graduation.
(b) Students who are Dependent Wards / Widows of Ex Servicemen & Ex Coast Guard personnel who died in harness / disabled due to causes attributable to military service / coast guard service, irrespective of the rank.
(c) Dependent wards of Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard personnel and their widows (below officer rank only).
Professional Degree Courses like BE, B Tech, BDS, MBBS, B Ed, BBA, BCA, B Pharma, etc. duly recognized by the respective Government Regulatory Bodies, such as All India Council for Technical Education, Medical Council of India, UGC. (Master Degree Courses are not eligible for PMSS except MBA, MCA).
Students can see the list of eligible courses for details. Students studying abroad are not eligible for this scheme. Students getting stipend for the Professional Degree Courses are also not entitled. No distance learning course is permitted under PMSS. PMSS can be availed for one course only.
Scholarship for Integrated Courses:
The facility under PMSS is restricted for Professional Degree Course only, such as B Ed but not for BA+B Ed, also for LLB not for BA+LLB. In case of integrated ME / M Tech / M Pharma initial four years scholarship will be given.
Applications will be shortlisted based on Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard category (as given below in Para 7) and percentage of marks obtained in MEQ.
Duration of Scholarship:
Two to five years as duration of the course approved by the concerned Regulatory Body (Except one year for B Ed).
Amount of Scholarship:
The amount of scholarship would be as follows: (a) Rs. 2000/- per month for boys (b) Rs. 2250- per month for girls Paid annually after selection.

Step to Apply For PMSS Scholarship?
Application to be filled ONLINE by visiting KSB website www.ksb.gov.in. Hard copy / paper application will not be entertained.
- First of all, ESM / Widow / Orphan visit Kendriya Sainik Board website www.ksb.gov.in and register themselves with KSB website.
- After registration, login ID, password and a link will be automatically generated by system and sent to your Email mentioned in registration part-I.
- Login to email ID which you have registered and click on the link which have been sent by KSB.
- Now you will be taken to login page of KSB.
- Click on PMSS tab under which three options will be displayed i.e., General Instructions, New Application & Renewal Application.

- What is PMSS?

- What is the eligibility Criteria for Prime Minister’s Scholarship under National Scholarship?
Prime Minister’s Scholarship is Open for dependent wards/widows of deceased CAPFs & AR/ Ex-CAPFs & AR/ retired and serving CAPFs & AR/ State Police Personnel.
Students must be pursuing professional courses as specified in the notification.
Students must fulfil the minimum education qualification
Students must have obtained at least 60% marks or above in the minimum educational qualification.
- Who can apply for PMSS?
The dependent wards of Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard personnel and their widows (below officer rank only) who are studying in higher technical and professional degree courses can apply for PMSS. Wards of Civilians including Para Military Personnel are not eligible.
- How to Apply For PMSS Scholarship?

- What is the procedure to apply for PMSS?
Visit KSB website www.ksb.gov.in and register themselves. After registration, login ID, password and a link will be automatically generated by system and sent to your Email.
Login to email ID and click on the link which have been sent by KSB. Now you will be taken to login page of KSB.
Click on New Application under which further three options will be displayed and Apply Online.
- Is there any provision to apply for PMSS in Second year of professional degree course?
No, student has to apply in first year (except lateral entry and integrated courses) of professional degree course only. Students who have taken admission between 01 Apr to 15 Nov are only eligible to apply for PMSS.
- Are diploma courses eligible for PMSS?
No, only professional degree courses recognized by a central regulatory body such as AICTE, MCI etc are eligible for PMSS.
- Are PG Courses allowed for PMSS?
Only MBA/Management and MCA are allowed for PMSS. No other PG courses are allowed for PMSS.
- Are B.Sc B.Ed integrated Courses eligible for PMSS?
Yes, these courses are integrated and eligible but scholarship will be paid only for the portion of B.Ed i.e. 2 years only
- Is PMSS courses conducted abroad are eligible for PMSS?
No, PMSS is applicable to the students who are studying in India only.
- If a student has already availed PMSS in the past, can he again apply for PMSS?
No. PMSS is allowed for one course only.
- If a student does not pass, then will he/she get the scholarship amount in subsequent year?
The student has to score 50% marks in each semester / academic year, then only he/she will get his/her PM scholarship amount. Failing to score 50% marks or get RA/fail in any subject / semester or in any academic year, his / her scholarship to be closed forever.
- Can I send physical application for award of PMSS?
No. Only apply online on KSB website www.ksb.gov.in.
- How long will I get scholarship?
Scholarship is awarded for entire duration of course except the internship.
