The Prime Minister’s New 15 Point Programme for the Welfare of Minorities was announced in June, 2006. It provides that Pre matric/Post matric/Merit cum Means Scholarships Scheme for Minorities
Minority Welfare Officer said in a statement that the details of minority students for the Central Government Scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year should be registered online by the respective schools and college owners. For this they login to scholarship.gov.in Website.
The cost of education in India is not insignificant. Lakhs of rupees have to be spent from primary to higher education.
Parents are sending their children to work because they cannot afford it. To overcome such situations, the Central Government is offering various scholarships to help those belonging to economically backward minorities.
The Ministry of Minority Affairs is seeking applications for scholarships from Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, Parsis, Muslims and Christians for the latest 2022-2024 academic year.

Pre-Metric Scholarships, Post Metric Scholarships and Merit Scholarships Online Application Deadline: 15-12-2024. Parents of students and the school college / institute management are requested to take advantage of this opportunity.
Similarly, those who do not have school / college / institute login, user id, password (user id & password) can contact the office of the District Minority Welfare Department.
It provides that a Pre-Matric scholarship scheme, a post-matric scholarship scheme and a Merit cum Means based Scholarship Scheme for meritorious students from minority communities would be implemented.
The above said three Scholarship Schemes to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs Organization said that Eligible students may apply for the a) Pre Matric, b) Matric, c) Merit cum means based scholarships for Fresh and renewals.
Qualified Minority Students have suggested that they can apply at the National Scholarship Portal before the application deadline.
Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) provides an opportunity to the students belonging to six minority communities notified by the Government of India (Jain Buddhist, Sikh, Zoroastrian (Parsis), Muslim and Christian) for availing scholarships under three scholarship schemes viz. Pre-Matric, Post-Matric and Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship for the year 2024 .

The Telangana State Minorities Economic Organization has sought to submit online applications for scholarships provided by the central government to the Minority Students.
1st Class to 10th class studying students may apply for the Pre-metric scholarships. Intermediate to PhD studying students, Government, Private college students and ITI, ITC and other technical courses studying students may for the Post-matric scholarship.
Degree, PG, Technical, Vocational courses studying students may apply for the Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship. The new date for applying for fresh scholarships and it is required to apply for renewals.

Eligibility for Minority Scholarship:
Eligibility for Pre-Matric, Post Matric and Merit- cum Means based Scholarship Schemes: Students belonging to notified minority communities viz. Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi (Zoroastrian) studying in India only and fulfilling the Scheme guidelines are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
- The applicant should be the student of the notified minority communities (Jain Buddhist, Sikh, Zoroastrian (Parsis), Muslim and Christian).
- The applicant should be pursuing studies in India in Government or recognized Private University/ Institute College/ School
- The course being pursued should be of Minimum one-year duration
- The applicant should have secured 50% marks in the last annual Board/ Class examination

Qualified Minority Students should apply for scholarships at the National Scholarships Portal and upload the necessary certificates along with the online application.
National Scholarships Portal services starting from student application, application receipt, processing, sanction and disbursal of various scholarships to Students are enabled. National Scholarships Portal is taken as Mission Mode Project under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).

Steps to complete the Minority Scholarship Registration 2024
All Minority students are aware of the scholarships that are available on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP portal) and students fulfil the eligibility conditions specified, students can apply for them online. The given steps to be followed for making a successful application on the portal.
- Students need to visit the official website of the NSP portal, https://scholarships.gov.in in your device browser.
- Once you reach the official website, you click on the New User Registration link on the home page.
- Minority Students should read and understood the guidelines for registration. After tick on the radio buttons, you can click on the Click on the Continue button.
- After clicking on that link, a Fresh Registration form would be opened.
- Now, Select the Pre Matric for class 1 to 10 OR Select the Post Matric / MC/ Top Class for Class 11, 12, UG, PG etc., from the Scholarship Category and Select Scholarship Scheme if you want to apply for Scholarships OR Select Incentive Scheme if you want to apply for any incentive scheme and fill the form with required information and click on the register button.
- After completion of new registration process, student will get a unique application ID and password through SMS on the provided (registered) mobile number.
- Now, you can click on the Login to Apply link on the home page. Then, Login for Fresh Application web page will appear in your device.
- In the login web page, student shall login to NSP using application ID and password which were received at the time of registration process and click on the login button.
- Here, the Minority Student must change the password upon first login.
- This password has to be kept safely and confidentially.
- The Minority Student can change the mobile number only before the first login, i.e. before changing the received password.
- After clicking on the login button, an applicant dashboard will open. Now, click on the ‘Application Form’ to proceed with the scholarship application.
- After clicking on the application form link, application form web page will appear. The Application Form is divided into three Parts, i.e., Registration Details, Academic Details, Basic Details. Minority Students should fill in all required details in the application form and Upload all supporting documents with the application form. Finally, click on the ‘Final Submit’ button.
- After clicking on the submit button, your application will be submitted successfully. Now, print and save application form further reference.

- Religion Certificate: Self Declaration/Certification or Self Attested Community Certificate – (Mandatory).

- (a) In case of Fresh: Self-Attested Certificate of ‘Previous Qualifying Exam /Board Mark sheet’ as filled in the Form. (Mandatory).
- (b) In case of Renewal: Self-Attested Certificate of Previous Year /Last exam passed Mark sheet (for same/ongoing course) as filled in the Form. (Mandatory)
- Fee Receipt of ‘Current Course Year’. (Mandatory)

Above documents are required to be uploaded only if the total scholarship amount for a year crosses Rs. 50,000/- in any of the 3 scholarship schemes.
The total scholarship amount coming Rs. 50,000/- in a year may take place only in Merit cum Means based scholarship scheme. The requirement for uploading of documents in such cases would be in both Fresh and Renewal cases.
Documents for verification:
Documents are needed to be given for verification to the Institute/School/college for verification of online application on the Portal after applying for a scholarship.
The list of documents to be given for verification to the Institute/School/college for verification of online application (for both Fresh & Renewal Scholarships) under Pre-Matric, Post-Matric and Merit cum Means based scholarship schemes (for scholarship claim up to Rs. 50,000/- where no uploading of document is required) are as under:

Instructions for filling Bank Account details:
- Instructions should be followed by student while filling up Bank Account details: Students must select their bank/branch name carefully from the drop-down list.
- Thereafter the complete Saving Bank Account no. must be entered correctly.
- Students are suggested to get their account number verified by their concerned Bank Branch. If bank details entered by students are found incorrect, the scholarship amount will not be transferred, though the application is approved for a scholarship.
- IFS Code must be selected/submitted correctly from the drop-down list.
- The bank account holder must check their ‘Know your Customer’ (KYC) status from the bank and if required the KYC must be done for successful transaction of scholarship amount.
- Bank Account must be operational/active till disbursal of scholarship (for all eligible applicants).
- Bank Account must be preferably in any Scheduled Bank (as per Reserve Bank of India list) with core banking facility.
- In the case of Post Matric and Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Schemes for minorities, the Bank Account must be in name of applicant/student only.
- In case of Pre-Matric scholarship scheme, the Bank Account may be in the name of either applicant/student or the applicant can have a joint account with his/her mother/father/guardian as indicated in the application.
- It is advised that the student should submit the account details of the Bank Account which is seeded with his/her Aadhaar number, as the payment of the scholarship amount to the student giving Bank Account seeded with Aadhaar is faster.
UID number/Aadhaar Number: UID number otherwise known as ‘Aadhaar’ number is Unique Identification Number given by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
The Aadhaar Number is required to be seeded with the Bank Account in which Scholarship Amount is desired to be transferred. For this, the concerned Bank may be contacted with a copy of the Aadhaar card.

3 Scholarship Schemes
Three Scholarship Schemes for minority communities at GOI Scholarships NSP Web Portal. The Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) implements three scholarship schemes i.e., 1. Pre-Matric, 2. Post Matric and 3. Merit-cum-Means based scholarship schemes for the Minorities as Central Sector Schemes with 100 % central funding.
Under these schemes, scholarships are awarded to the economically weaker and meritorious students from the six centrally notified minority communities i.e., Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Muslim, Sikh and Zoroastrian (Parsis) pursuing studies in India in a Government or recognized private school/Institute/college/university.
Instructions for smooth implementation of aforesaid schemes:
During the year 2022-23, the online implementation of the Pre-Matric, Post Matric and Merit-cum-Means based scholarship schemes shall be done through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) of the Government of India under URL: www.scholarships.gov.in.
A mobile app- National Scholarship (NSP) has also been prepared for the same for use by applicants in the remote/hilly areas. File No.MNW03-13021/2/2020-B SEC-COM. Only online applications under the Schemes will be accepted and no request for Offline applications will be entertained.
The detailed guidelines of three scholarship schemes and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) with the timelines is available on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Ministry has been initiated the process of inviting online applications for the aforesaid schemes, as per existing guidelines.
The District Minorities Welfare Officers/District Nodal Officers in the State should publicize the schemes through advertisements in leading newspapers and other popular means in their respective Districts to enable the minority students to avail the maximum benefits of these scholarship schemes.
To increase publicity of the aforesaid three scholarship schemes for minorities, efforts may also be made to place hoardings at District Collectorate Offices to promote the awareness for the minority students as well as Institution Registration on NSP portal etc.,
KYC registration of pending institutes and efforts to be made to increase the number of renewal applicants under Pre-Matric, Post Matric and Merit-cum-Means based scholarship schemes and to ensure Aadhaar seeding/authentication of all online applications in their respective Districts.

How much is the Minority Pre Matric Scholarship amount?
Day-Scholarships for Class One to Fifth under Pre-Metric Scholarship are given Rs.100 / – per month for maintenance allowance. Those staying in class six to ten will be given a maintenance allowance of Rs.600 per month (Rs.100 per day-scholar), tuition fee of Rs.350 per month and admission fee of Rs.500.
How much is the Minority Post Matric Scholarship amount?
7000/- per annum under Admission Fee under Post-Metric Scholarship. 10000 under course/ tuition fee, Rs.380/- per month for those staying in hostels under Maintenance Allowance and Day-Scholar will be paid Rs.230.
How much is the Minority Merit cum Means Scholarship amount?
20,000 for course fee for those selected for Merit cum Means Based Scholarship. Rs.1000/- per month for those staying in hostels under Maintenance Allowance. Day Scholar candidates will be paid Rs.500.
MODIFICATION (if any, during 2017-18 to 2019-20) Minor modifications, if any, in the scheme having no financial implications may be made by the Competent Authority in the Ministry of Minority Affairs without seeking recourse to SFC/EFC/Cabinet.
